New Plymouth’s leading radiology company, Absolute Radiology, has announced that it is joining Canopy Healthcare Group (CHG), one of New Zealand’s major healthcare companies.

Absolute Radiology is a high-quality provider of diagnostic imaging in the Taranaki.  They have been serving the Taranaki region for the past four years and are renowned for being progressive and innovative.

“We are now at the point where we want to be able to provide additional technology and imaging options to the region and are excited about the opportunities that being part of CHG will provide. Our shared patient-centric approach and aligned company values make this a natural next step for us as we continue to grow and support our local community,” says Sue Smith-Howard, Absolute’s Operations Manager.

CHG is a unique, vertically integrated, New Zealand healthcare provider, comprising of 22 diagnostic clinics, 6 oncology clinics, a private breast surgical and diagnostic centre and a drug compounding business, making it the largest North Island diagnostic provider and the largest medical oncology provider in New Zealand.   They are renowned for their integrated, patient-centric approach by providing world-class services, to their local communities.

As well as providing private healthcare services, the company is a major supporter of publicly funded entities such as ACC, plus supports local public hospitals wherever possible.

According to Smith-Howard the radiology company will now have additional layers of support and services for both our patients and staff.

“We are planning significant technology upgrades to ensure that we are offering the latest innovations - a key part of our patient approach, she says.

The existing Absolute Radiology team will remain unchanged and will gain many benefits to their practice including additional support from TRG Imaging radiologists plus learning and development opportunities for all staff.

According to the Chief Executive of Canopy Healthcare Group Tony Moffatt, joining with Absolute is an important step in continuing to deliver clinical excellence in a number of healthcare specialities across New Zealand.

“Bringing Absolute Radiology into the Canopy Healthcare family, allows us to offer expanded imaging opportunities in the region and will also help bring oncology services into the region seamlessly.

“Our plan is to expand across the regions to ensure people have local access to the best private diagnostic and medical care. We are committed to a model of care that looks after patients at all touchpoints and removes obstacles and barriers,” says Moffatt.
